FAQ
Common questions.
Quick answers. For anything else, email info@luminelle.ai.
What does Luminelle do?
Luminelle scans skincare and food product barcodes and scores them against EU and California regulatory ingredient lists. It also helps you track calories, your menstrual cycle phases, a daily journal (redness, breakouts, stress), and daily selfies whose changes you can review over time.
How does the product scoring work?
Every score is built from public regulatory sources - EU CosIng, California’s cosmetic bills, California Prop 65, and ECHA’s endocrine-disruptor candidate list. Flagged ingredients contribute weight by severity tier. The full rubric is on our Methodology page.
Is Luminelle medical advice?
No. Luminelle is an educational and informational tool. It is not a medical device, and selfie analysis, ingredient flags, calorie estimates, and cycle predictions are not diagnoses. Talk to a qualified healthcare professional for medical guidance. See our Terms of Service for more.
What data does Luminelle collect, and where does it go?
Account basics, the products you scan, your journal and cycle entries, and the daily selfies you choose to take. When you scan a product or take a selfie, the photo is sent to our servers for analysis. Your account data is stored on servers in the EU. We do not sell your data and we do not show ads. Full detail in the Privacy Policy.
Where are my photos stored, and who can see them?
Your selfies, meal photos, and food product photos are saved on your phone so you can see them in your in-app history. We don’t keep these images on our servers - when you capture one, we send it for analysis and discard it on our side. Only the result (observations, ingredients, calorie estimate, scores) is stored in your account. Ingredient-label scans aren’t saved as photos at all. No other user can see your photos. Our team doesn’t routinely view them, and we don’t use them to train AI models.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Subscriptions are managed by the Apple App Store or Google Play. Open your store account settings, find Luminelle in your subscriptions list, and cancel there. Cancellation stops auto-renewal at the end of the current period and you keep access until then.
Can I delete my account and my data?
Yes. Open the app, go to Settings, and tap Delete account. Your account data is purged from our servers within 30 days, with limited exceptions for legal and tax records we are required to retain (for example, paid subscription invoices). You can also email info@luminelle.ai to request deletion.
Does Luminelle work without internet?
Most features need an internet connection - product scoring, selfie analysis, and sync all happen on our servers. Barcode lookups for products we already know about can resolve on your device, and some recently-viewed data may be available offline for short reference.
